This has all happened before, of course. Peter Pan was another project that had been on the Studio's planning board for over a decade before it was released in 1953. World War II postponed many projects like "Alice in Wonderland" and "Cinderella". The charming children's book by J.M. Barrie made a wonderful animated feature, and gave fans some of Disney's most-loved characters, notably Tinker Bell the pixie. Walt brought back the lovely young English girl Kathryn Beaumont, who had just done Alice in Wonderland, to provide the voice for Wendy Darling. Hans Conreid had a dual role as the voice for both Henry Darling and the bumbling pirate, Captain Hook.
