This cel is the first of the hand-painted limited edition "souvenir" cels that were sold at the Animation Gallery in the Disney/MGM Studios Theme Park during 1989. Offering this collectible for the new theme park was a bold move for Disney since the cel sold for about $125.00. The cel shows Mickey Mouse at an animator's table and has the exclusive "May 1989" seal in the lower right-hand corner. This rare Disney/MGM Studios souvenir cel is highly prized by collectors since they were usually bought as family keepsakes, not as collectibles. It is attractively presented in a distinctive two-tone double mat with a matching metal frame as shown.
