Did you know that Walt Disney had a private apartment above the firehouse in Disneyland? As a prize at an Annual Passholder Event in 1995, we won dinner in that apartment which has been preserved since Walt's passing in 1966. Alan Young is a Canadian-born actor who became known in the US for his role as Wilbur Post on the 1960's sitcom "Mister Ed". He started out in radio in the 1940's, first in Canada and then in the US. In 1950 he starred in his own television show. He had appeared in a couple of movies in that time, and returned to film after his television show was cancelled, notably in the George Pal films "Tom Thumb" and the nerd favorite "The Time Machine" (opposite Rod Taylor) in which he adopted a Scottish brogue which would serve him well in the future when he became the voice of Scrooge McDuck (Uncle Scrooge) in several Disney animated productions.
We obtained this autograph in person in 1989 at the opening of the Disney/MGM Theme Park in Walt Disney World. Mr. Young was to appear in some ceremonies for the event and he also made an appearance in the park to greet guests.
